In 2007, ETSU Senior Administration Officials decided to expand recycling efforts on the campus. At that time, funding was allocated to hire a fulltime recycling coordinator and to purchase additional recycling containers for implementation of the program. Since that time, the ETSU community has recycled over 112 tons of materials. ETSU currently partners with the City of Johnson City for our recycling efforts. We currently recycle the following materials on campus:
#1 & #2 Plastics, Aluminum, Paper, Cardboard, Shredded Paper, Scrap Metal, Pallets, rechargeable batteries, and printer/copier/fax machine cartridges. We also assist with recycling of e-waste during an annual e-waste collection drive.
Collection containers are located at every University building and at three (3) drop-off location points on campus. Buccaneer Ridge Apartments, Buccaneer Village "F"; building, and in Parking Lot 13 near the Facilities Building.
